Tempest (1981) is a vector shooter in which you pilot a claw ship around the outside of a three-dimensional geometric tube. You initiate play with a rotary knob and fire at threats moving towards you using a fire button while killing each wave by having shapes move towards you around the tube.

The upright has angular side graphics in neon green that display wireframe tunnels and the ship. Delicate rotation is provided by a spinner and there is a red fire button on a sloping plane on the control panel. There is a backlit "TEMPEST" marquee placed above the vector monitor, and a mono speaker is employed for effects.
