Centipede, published by Atari in 1981, is a side shooter where the player uses a trackball to control a small bottom-of-the-screen shooter and shoot down a falling centipede that moves through a row of mushrooms. Segment kills are rewarded with points, with spiders, fleas, and scorpions adding danger.

The upright cabinet features side-panel graphics: a big, colorful centipede walking across giant mushrooms on a green-and-purple background. A tilted control panel cradles a heavy-duty trackball and fire button under an illuminated "CENTIPEDE" marquee, with bezel artwork that takes inspiration from mushrooms. A mono speaker boasts clear, chiptune sound effects to listen to amid frantic action within.
